Food wins hearts across communities and cultures, across nations and regions.
There are many foreign words associated with food items and the terms are difficult to pronounce. We in India often mispronounce them but we still love their taste and aroma. We accept the food and utter the name the way we can in our accent.
Similarly, while selecting the name of the restaurant, we were driven by the idea of authenticity in the menu. Since most of the items have origins and fusions in Bengal, we did not want to sound foreign but carry the language and essence of Bengal in many different ways. As most of the items on the menu have a Bengal connection, we felt like associating the name with the region.

It does not mean that the lovers of food have to be Bengalis alone – because good food is loved by people of all communities. The name does not mean it is for the appeasement of one community. It is a name that builds curiosity among non-Bengalis and this explains our choice. When you approve of the Bengali cuisine, you say it in the language of love of the Bengali taste that has made you happy after the meal. When you say Aamio Petuk, you join the growing community of lovers of Bong food. Like food you relish, you relish the words of the Bengali language and enrich the experience.
It is a celebrated submission of the fact that you endorse everything on the plate. Aamio Petuk is just like Main Petu. Now see the difference. The impact of Aamio Petuk is greater than Main Petu. The flavour and the thrust on Bengali menu is missing in case of Main Petu though it means the same. Bengal is a state with a rich culinary tradition that is celebrated across the country. Using these words means we are serious and committed to bringing you the best from the Bengali palate. When we use the Bengali phrase, we are serious about the Bengali food served here as the connoisseurs of Bengali food would surely judge our authenticity. We are here to pass their critical test. Matching the name with quality and justifying that the food here has the power to make you a foodie.
